American CSA Civil War Parole, issued by command of Maj Gen'l J.A. Early, S Hall Maj & AA & JG, P.A.C.S., June 27, 1863. Document reads " Hd Qrs Hunterstown, Pa, June 27, 1863 / The Following named non-commissioned officers and and Privates of the 26th Regt Pennsylvania Militia taken prisoners of war near Gettysburg , Pa, are hereby permitted to go to their homes upon their parole of honor not to serve in the United States Army or in any other military organization under the State or US Government until regularly exchanged..................Private Edward VanDine ..................... by command of Maj Gen'l J.A. Early, S Hall Maj & AA & JG, P.A.C.S., I certify that the above is a true extract from the original parole in my possession. Capt ????????????, Co B 26th Regt P.V. April 1, 1863" On a single sheet, 11 7/8" x 7 3/8", folded, creased, 2" tear at top left, some edge tears, generally bright in G-VG condition. On a nice laid paper, no watermarks. the PACS, Provisional Army of the Confederate States was formed April 27, 1861, accompanied by Gettysburg, What They Did Here Pamphlet, by LW Minnigh, with map dated 1912
